2014 was a successful year for Mitsubishi in many ways. The automaker saw a number of awards and recognitions for its vehicles, and achieved greater status among American drivers. In 2014, the Mitsubishi Mirage saw incredible sales gains, posting a year-to-date total of 15,573 sales at the end of November compared to the same time in 2013, when the Mirage had sold 1,547 units. On top of that, the 2015 Mirage was named Most Affordable Vehicle by Cars.com back in August. Finally, the Mirage was proven the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid new car on the market, returning 37 mpg city and 44 mpg highway. And those are just a few of the reasons the Mirage is the star of 2014!
Although the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution—also known as EVO—has been around since the ‘90s, and has enjoyed popularity among sports sedan enthusiasts, the 2015 model will, sadly, be the last. But Mitsubishi announced in November 2014 that a Special Edition EVO X would be made available next summer, as a way of sending the performance car off in style. Unfortunately, only 2,000 will be made, so it’s likely we’ll never get to experience one in person.
The Mitsubishi i-MiEV is one quirky looking vehicle. Some might find it unattractive, but we’re quite taken with its unique appearance and incredible fuel economy. As one of the most affordable electric cars around, the i-MiEV is perfect for city dwellers and young drivers who can’t afford to fill a gas-guzzler every few days.
