Bakersfield native and Centennial graduate Cody Kessler just moved to Cleveland, where he will now be playing for the Cleveland Browns. He was the 93rd pick of the draft, and only the sixth quarterback off the board.
The Browns don’t currently have an entrenched starter in the position, but Kessler will be working and competing with four other quarterbacks on the Browns’ roster. Kessler states that he is excited to learn from the quarterbacks, which includes Robert Griffin III.
Kessler stated that “it’s probably the perfect fit for me” and that he is very excited that all his hard work is paying off. He had an impressive visit with the Browns during the pre-draft process, which was confirmed when the phone rang with a call from Ohio.
The journey, which began in northwest Bakersfield, has been a lot of work over the years. However, Kessler knew that it would take extra work for the world to notice his amazing skills used at Centennial.
From Jack Frost Football, to Centennial, to USC, to the Browns, we are extremely proud of Cody Kessler and his hard work! We completely agree with the Browns coach Hue Jackson who stated that Kessler has everything “you look for in a quarterback.”
