Keeping your car cool in summer can be difficult, especially if you’re parking in the middle of a parking lot with no cover in Bakersfield California where it is regularly 100+ degrees outside. While some businesses have parking garages that will shade vehicles during the work day, others aren’t as fortunate. If you have to park out in the sun, we here at Bakersfield Mitsubishi have some tips to help you keep your car cool in summer!
First and most obvious, invest in a sun shade. While it may seem like a waste of money, a sun shade can actually save your car’s resale value in the long run. By blocking out harmful UV rays, it protects your car’s interior from fading, while also keeping the temperature down during the work day.
When you first come out to the car, instead of blasting the air conditioning from the top vents, switch to the bottom and roll down the windows. Hot air rises so the cool air from the bottom vents will push the hot air up and out. Once cool, roll up the windows and switch to the top vents for a comfortable, cool ride home.
Using the recirculation setting is nice when the car is already cool. When it’s hot, all it does is push hot air around. Switch to fresh air when you first start the car then put on recirculation to keep the car cool the entire ride home.
