Mitsubishi And Google Team Up
While there may be a few people who disagree, most people know that Google not only has the best search engine, but also makes an amazing operating system when it comes to Android. So, it only makes sense that Mitsubishi and Google should team up to create the next-generation infotainment system.
Android Operating System
The partnership will be with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and will lead to Android operating systems in vehicles starting in 2021. This system will be able to provide turn-by-turn navigation through Google Maps, control various media, answer calls and texts, find information, and have access to various automotive apps through the Google Play Store. Hadi Zablit, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi, said, “We are building powerful connected and seamless onboard / off-board experiences into our vehicles in addition to the features of Google applications and services that many users are accustomed to, including Google Maps, the Google Assistant and the Google Play Store.”
Alliance Intelligent Cloud
While the Alliance may share many aspects of the future platform, each brand will be able to integrate its own specific features and customer interface as part of its unique system. It will also incorporate the Alliance Intelligent Cloud, which will provide secure connectivity for data management, over-the-air upgrades, and remote diagnostics.
