Mitsubishi has had a lot of momentum of late. Automotive News calls it a “remarkable sales rebound.” The Japanese automaker plans to harness this momentum and use it to bring fresh products to market. Mitsubishi enthusiasts will soon see their options expand, probably as soon as next year.
The Mitsubishi Mirage has been faring quite well and is partly responsible for Mitsubishi’s success. Among other things, people really like its fuel efficiency, as it gets 40 mpg combined.
The automaker plans to introduce a sedan version sometime next year. It’s only a matter of importing and re-branding, as the sedan version of the Mirage is already made and sold overseas as the Attrage.
Mitsubishi also plans to bring back an old favorite: the Montero SUV, which left the US in 2008. Good news is it’s still made overseas as the Pajero. Mitsubishi CEO Osamu Masuko said, “We are putting our emphasis on SUVs in the United States. So we have to think about introducing the next-generation Pajero to the United States. There’s going to be a PHEV version.”
Couple the Montero SUV’s return with the impending release of the Outlander PHEV and the momentum should continue for many years to come. We here at Bakersfield Mitsubishi are happy to be a part of it.
