Here in California, hybrid and electric cars are a big deal. That is why Mitsubishi service technicians are being put through additional training that will allow them to focus more on these types of vehicles. The training is through the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).

“With IMI Qualifications, we are working to provide our technicians with additional industry recognition and qualifications that set the benchmark in electric and hybrid vehicle repair and maintenance,” said Ray Watts, training manager at Mitsubishi Motors.

Along with veteran technicians, this training program will become a standard course for all Mitsubishi technicians. This enhanced training program will better prepare technicians to service vehicles like the Mitsubishi i-MIEV and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV that will finally be released this summer.

In Europe, this plug-in hybrid model is one of the best-selling PHEV models. One of the most desirable elements of the Outlander PHEV is its useable electric range combined with its more-than-capable all-wheel-drive performance.

Here at Bakersfield Mitsubishi in Bakersfield, CA, we are excited to see the U.S. Mitsubishi lineup get this much-anticipated model and are looking forward to having our technicians go through this new training program.
