Mitsubishi is breaking ground in a new direction and adding more eco-friendly choices to their lineup. At the Paris auto show the Outlander PHEV Concept-S was introduced, which is an upgraded plug-in version of the popular model.
The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander has made a splash so far as one of the most popular crossovers in the market. With a 2.4L MIVEC 4-cylinder generating 166hp and a continuously variable transmission, it’s hard not to like. Let’s not forget the FUSE hands-free system and stylish interior.
So why change a good thing? Well, the Outlander PHEV Concept-S is in reality a completely different car. According to World Car Fans, the major redesign happened under the hood where two electric motors now sit alongside a 2.0L 4-cylinder. A lithium ion pack and plug-in system are wired throughout as well. That translates to 143.5 MPG. That’s not a typo; the Outlander PHEV Concept-S fuel efficiency is astonishing.
With a range of 547 miles in hybrid mode, the new Outlander PHEV Concept-S shows what is in store for the future. Although the concept is not available now, stop by Bakersfield Mitsubishi to see the 2015 model year.
