We were all saddened when we learned Mitsubishi was ending production of its Lancer Evolution line, but now we are encouraged there will be one last special edition Mitsubishi Evo X coming next summer.
In an online Q&A session with Jalopnik, Mitsubishi executive vice president Don Swearingen was asked about a possible Evolution XI. He responded, “There are currently no plans for an Evo XI.” But then he added, “We do plan on launching a special edition in June/July of next year as a going away edition. It’s a GSR 5-speed. More horsepower, some suspension tuning, and some bits pieces that are still being finalized. Around 2,000 units will be available.”
We don’t have any other details as of yet, but we’re guessing those 2,000 models will be gone in a flash. We’ll keep you updated with any other news about this special edition Evo X.
Swearingen also gave out some other interesting information. He said Mitsubishi is planning on adding a sedan version of the popular, fuel-efficient Mirage along with a Galant replacement and a larger crossover to replace the Montero.
