Safety is a top priority for Mitsubishi, which is why it comes as no surprise that three Mitsubish models have been honored with a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2015 Outlander, Outlander Sport, and Lancer all passed the IIHS’ crash tests with ease, showing that when consumers drive Mitsubishis, they are as safe as possible.
“Thanks to our advanced high-tech engineering and safety features, the Mitsubishi Lancer, Outlander and Outlander Sport have consistently achieved high IIHS safety ratings,” said Don Swearingen, Executive Vice President of MMNA. “The Mitsubishi RISE safety body construction system is the perfect example of this kind of technology. In the event of an accident, energy is absorbed and deflected away from the occupant cell, which enhances passenger protection.”
The Outlander received the IIHS’s top safety rating of a Top Safety Pick+ because it offers superior driver assist technologies, such as Forward Collision Mitigation. Both the Outlander Sport and the Lancer were named Top Safety Picks for Mitsubishi; it’s the fourth consecutive year the Outlander Sport received this safety designation and the seventh consecutive year for the Lancer.
