Following extensive tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander was awarded the organization’s highest honor: a 2021 Top Safety Pick+ rating, establishing the SUV as a great option for drivers who prioritize safety features and systems.
The IIHS is an independent, nonprofit organization that thoroughly evaluates the crashworthiness and crash-avoidance capabilities of new vehicles. To win the coveted TSP+ award, models must earn the highest possible score in all six crash tests as well as offer front-crash prevention systems that earn an “advanced” or “superior” score in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. TSP+ models must also be equipped with headlights delivering good or acceptable visibility across all trim levels.
“With this designation, and the industry’s only standard third-row seating in its class, Outlander is a great choice for modern families, and we can be really proud of that,” said Mark Chaffin, COO of Mitsubishi Motors North America.
Standard Safety Features
