Washing your car seems like an easy enough task. We’ve all done it before, and a few of us even enjoy it (including us at Bakersfield Mitsubishi). Wet it down, soap it up, rinse off, and dry. But, there are always better ways to do the mundane tasks that always need completed. And, there are definitely wrong ways to do it. Here are a few tips to improve your car-washing techniques!
- Do not wait too long to wash your car. Allowing certain substances–bird waste and insects, for instance–to sit for too long can permanently ruin the finish of your car. Clean those off as soon as possible and as a general rule, wash your car about once a week.
- Allow your vehicle to cool before you wash it. Wait for a period after driving it and park it in the shade if you can. A warm car can cause soap to dry before you get a chance to rinse it off.
- When it comes to drying your car, use a soft towel or chamois. Do not allow it to air-dry. Blot the water instead of raking the towel across the paint.
Follow these easy tips and enjoy your car’s clean and like-new appearance!
