2018 was a fantastic year for Mitsubishi sales. The brand, known for its capacity, budget-friendly lineup, had its best calendar year in 11 years in 2018, with a 15% increase in sales from 2017 and 118,000 vehicles sold through the year.
It’s no surprise with the current booming demand for crossovers that Mitsubishi’s utility lineup accounted for the bulk of its sales. The Outlander and Outlander Sport both saw huge increases in sales this year, especially the Sport—its sales increased by 18% in 2018 from 2017. Mitsubishi’s eco-friendly Outlander PHEV was also a hit, along with the Eclipse Cross, the brand’s all-new compact crossover offering.
Loving The Mirage
The dark horse of 2018 was the tiny Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback and Mirage G4 sedan. With sales increasing 70% from 2017—that’s almost double!—the Mirage and Mirage G4 found a big audience in drivers looking for an affordable, fuel-efficient option that still delivers on cargo space and a comfortable, spacious interior. December 2018 was a big driver for Mitsubishi’s excellent sales year. In December, nearly 9,000 Mitsubishi vehicles were sold, an increase of 5.7% from December 2017, making it Mitsubishi North America’s best December for sales since 2006.
Mitsubishi continues to grow every year—2018 was the second year in a row MMNA broke 100,000 units sold, for the sixth year in a row of year-over-year sales increases. If you want to take home a Mitsubishi of your own, contact us at Bakersfield Mitsubishi in Bakersfield, CA.
